Book 1: The Master of Deception (2017)
5.0 out of 5 stars.
This book was great. It was so real made me think about the daily news reports of terrorism.

"This book was great. It was so real. I found myself on some days waking up and hearing the news on TV and having a hard time discerning from what I was reading in the book. If you like Tom Clancy novels you will really like this one too. The author did a great job researching a lot of the background information. I found the book hard to put down and as soon as I was done I couldn't wait to start reading the second book of the series."

"This book is scary because although it is fiction, all the events could really happen. The author did a lot of research and knows how to keep you hooked. I don't think the author needed to give so much detail on all the characters, but this is just book one of a 6 Part series. Since the first book leaves you hanging, definitely plan on reading book two (which will be available soon). He uses locations that I was very familiar with, like the BART TransBay tunnel (San Francisco). I will be unable to ride it without a bit of fear after reading this book. Unfortunately, terrorism is a part of our lives now, so if you are not comfortable reading about it, this is is not the book for you. But if you like action it will keep your interest. I will definitely read the next book."

"This new novel is a suspenseful and enjoyable thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat. As the complex plot unfolds, I was engaged to consider the consequences of a well-financed and sophisticated terrorist network wanting revenge against the United States. The plot of The Master of Deception goes well beyond our common fear of a dirty bomb; it rocks the stability of the western world, when billionaire and developer of Dubai, Yassar Kaffi, is radicalized by the loss of his entire family - killed by a U.S. cruise missile attack. I felt like I was in the room with the terrorists during their planning sessions, and then, a member of the scientific team working against the clock to thwart the next attack. Obviously a world traveler, George C. Baker has written this novel with incredible detail and realism about the international locations. Not only did I have a terrific read on my hands, but felt as though I had traveled the world. Fortunately this is the first of a series, so find a comfortable chair before you begin this book because you won’t want to put it down! "

"A vivid and complex web of a terrorist mastermind using his immense resources to create a powerful terrorist network challenging the world's best intelligence agencies to prevent the complex series of evolving attacks making The Master of Deception a suspenseful take on one man’s obsession to seek revenge on the United States and her allies. The evolving story of the world's quest to identify and stop Yassar Kaffi, a powerful billionaire financier and developer of Dubai, motivated by the Omani tradition of Awb Isaba demanding revenge against those that harm, dishonor or disgrace his family. Can the world stop a man obsessed with revenge leading a complex terrorist network, behind the shroud of being in plain sight before the next horrendous attack? George C Baker has hit an unconscious nerve of our basic nuclear fears with his first thriller."

I had fun reading Master of Deception! It was a fast read with an exciting overload of action, destruction, and strategies that most terrorist thrillers don’t deliver. Baker has written a well-thought-out plot that makes you want to keep turning the pages. He has created a very memorable villain in Yassar Kaffi that will leave most readers in fear of the future. The global locations throughout the novel will appeal to any world traveler. If you like reading Dan Brown thrillers, Robert Ludlum or Tom Clancy action novels, you will enjoy Baker’s Master of Deception. His style and plot is like a successful combination of Brown and Clancy. I can’t wait for the sequel!
